More than 50 women attended The Northwood Extended School Collaborative International Women’s Day event, which celebrated the role women play in the community.
Several speakers spoke of their experiences to inspire the audience at the Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue on Monday, March 8.
Debbie David described the obstacles she had to overcome due to her learning difficulties and desribed her role with Mencap to improve the lives of people in her situation.
The afternoon concluded with a workshop looking at the meaning of equality, together with a tour of the synagogue and a closer look at the Ark and scrolls.
The Northwood Extended School Collaborative consists of 12 schools and members used their connections to bring different communities together to celebrate the progress made by women over the past 50 years.
Meave Darroux, parent support advisor for the Northwood Extended Schools Collaborative, said, “The event has been truly inspirational, the women have not only been inspired by the speakers but have also been given a rare opportunity to meet women from different faiths and backgrounds to share their personal experiences.”
