Police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) from Bushey have been awarded management qualifications in neighbourhood policing.
The Introductory Certificate in Neighbourhood Management was awarded to 28 Hertsmere officers, eight of which police the Bushey area.
Some key themes on the course included dealing more effectively with anti-social behaviour, problem-solving and partnership working.
The successful participants were presented with their awards by assistant chief constable Chris Miller on Monday.
He said: “Neighbourhood policing is top of the national policing agenda and we must deliver an effective service to our communities.
“A lot of the issues tend to relate to anti-social behaviour, but these issues always end up in someone’s neighbourhood and affect someone’s quality of life.
“It is important to formulise the training of our safer neighbourhood officers and I’m very proud to be awarding them with certificates as the first Hertfordshire officers to obtain this formal qualification. Communities will be safer with their new skills.”
The course, run by the National Police Improvement Agency, was piloted in Hertsmere and is expected to be rolled out nationwide over the next two year.
