A fire protection officer from Watford has been presented a medal for more than 20 years of dedicated service to Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Station commander Jon Horastead, who is based at the Lower High Street station, was one of ten firefighters who were praised for more than 200 years of combined service.
The medals, which are issued by royal warrant, were handed out in recognition of 'meritorious service' during a ceremony at County Hall, Hertford, on Wednesday.
County Councillor Keith Emsall, executive member for community safety and culture, said: “These members of staff should be proud of their achievement; they have dedicated their careers to serving and protecting the people of Hertfordshire and I am pleased their accomplishments have been recognised."
Chief fire officer Roy Wilsher added: “The achievements we have made would not be possible without the commitment and hard work of our staff who continually strive to make Hertfordshire an ever safer place. These long serving members of staff have given many years to provide Hertfordshire residents with an ever improving fire and rescue service, which I am extremely proud to lead."
