THE tranquil surroundings of the Grand Union Canal will be the setting for a protest later this month.
A blockade of barges is being planned by Rickmansworth waterways enthusiasts furious with Government budget cuts.
Boat lovers along the Grand Union Canal are planning a protest against a £9million cash cut to British Waterways by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). They will collect at Batchworth Lock on Saturday, November 25, at 2.30pm to call for a revision of Defra policies.
