A motorcyclist died last night in Croxley Green, following a collision with a car.
The incident happened in The Green, at the junction with Old Barn Lane, shortly before 10pm.
Firefighters from Rickmansworth and Watford, along with a First Response Ambulance, were called to the scene at 9.57pm.
The crews found the motorbike on fire in the middle of the road, with the motorcyclist lying on the curb. Two members of the public were tending to him.
Watch Commander Andy Newman, from Rickmansworth Fire Station, said: "We extinguished the fire and attempted to do casualty care and assist the ambulance. There wasn't much that could be done unfortunately."
My thoughts are with this guys family... sorry for your loss.
That junction on the Green is and always will be a dodgy one, should something be done?!?
If you ar a careful driver then this junction is fine, but so many people come out of there carelessly and stupidly. Think!

A light of the highest magnitude has been prematurely & so cruelly extinguished. He was the light of any group he was with & his loss will be felt everywhere he had been by everyone who had ever met him. RIP James, it was an honour & a privilage to be your friend.

So sorry to hear about the accident. Even though I am 15, my sympathy goes out to your family. My mum heard the crash and saw the motorbike on fire and emmedietly called the ambulance.
Sorr nothing could be done. I think the flowers around the lamp-post is a very nice gesture.

Jimbo, James my cowboy - I can not believe you have gone. We had some mad and wonderful times together and most of all we laughed our heads off all the time - I can not believe that I will never see you in Watford for a night out again - you will be sadly missed by everyone that you came in contact with you were the most funniest person I have ever met and I will think about you always and will miss you loads and loads - Have fun in heaven and be your normal self and I am sure we will all meet again one day x x x My thoughts are with your family too and hope they take comfort from all the messages all your mates have left for you as they had a wonderful son in you x
