Seized bikes may be crushed

Two motorbikes have been confiscated by police in Bushey and may be crushed after they were seen being ridden on the pavement.

One bike was seized from an alleyway that runs from Harcourt Road to Cooks Mead, while the second was seized because it was being ridden on the pavement from Faulkner Road towards Bournehall Avenue.

In both cases, the riders had already been issued warnings for causing a nuisance with their vehicles.

Police Community Support Officer Matt Wichanski said: "Over the past few months, the team has been proactively targeting nuisance vehicle behaviour in Bushey and we have sent out numerous warning letters to offenders so there may well be further seizures to come."

"This should serve as a warning to anyone else who rides motorcycles in an anti-social, dangerous or illegal manner.

"This kind of behaviour had a big impact on the community's quality of life.

"We will not tolerate it and we will take robust action.

"It is illegal to ride on pavements, in alleyways. You cannot ride on other people's private property, parks, woodland or any public place without permission."

He added: "Police have powers to issue a warning the first time you are caught riding one of these machines illegally or dangerously.

"The second time you are caught, the machine will be confiscated.

"If you don't pay a £105 recovery fee and a £12 per day storage rate within 14 days, the bikes will be crushed."
