Birds flocking to Kings Langley will find some ready-made homes, after the parish council decided to attract more wildlife to the village.
Parish council chairman Gerry Angiolini and Ian Edgar, of DFM Garden Services, took to the trees surrounding All Saint's Church and the Memorial Gardens, in the High Street, where they have installed 13 nesting boxes.
The event was part of National Nest Box Week, which aims to encourage people to put up the boxes and help breeding birds and other wildlife.

Gerry said: "I thought they were going to be tiny little wooden things, but they're quite substantial and made from resin. The largest one, for starlings, is really quite heavy. The smallest ones are for blue tits.
"The two boxes for sparrows had to be put on the same tree, as we took advice and learned that they like nesting near each other."
