Which way to Newtown? Police Constable Graham (Colin Welland) and Detective Constable Lynch (James Ellis) plot the long road home after shooting outdoor scenes in Watford Market on Tuesday for an episode of Z-Cars.
Called “Market Square” it will be screened on June 2.
[From the Watford Observer of May 21, 1965]
NOSTALGIA NOTE: Colin Welland is perhaps most famous for winning an Oscar in 1981 for his Chariots of Fire screenplay. He is now 80 years old.
James Ellis became a household name in the 60s and 70s as Bert Lynch, a character he played for 16 years, during which time Lynch rose from humble PC to Inspector. Ellis died of a stroke on March 8, 2014, aged 82.
