African drums, cheers and handclaps echoed through the halls of a school in Bushey, as a Ugandan choir visited the town before performing for the Queen.
Energetically entertaining students and staff at the Purcell School, Aldenham Road, The African Children's Choir sang a set of traditional and modern songs, backed with live drums and audience participation.
Purcell student and harpist, Cecilia Sultana De Maria, 18, recently competing for the BBC Young Musician of the Year award, helped organise the event and raise £525 for the 15 piece Ugandan choir.
Choir manager, Abraham Kiyingi said: "We have had experiences with similar events before but this has been special. What unites us is music. We are using it as a tool to bring people and cultures together."
