The newly formed South Oxhey Community Choir may have gone down a storm in front of their home crowd in episode one of The Choir Unsung Town, but now in the second programme in the series, it’s time to see how they fare in front of a paying audience of Hertfordshire concertgoers. Gareth Malone has secured an opportunity for the choir to perform at the presitigious Watford Colosseum which has arguably the best acoustic in the country.

Also in this episode, Gareth starts up a children’s choir in South Oxhey encouraging the kids from the area’s six primary schools to aim high. At South Oxhey’s Special Needs school, Colnbrook, Gareth spots a future star of the choir.

Sibel’s speech and language difficulties are no obstacle to her when it comes to singing and alongside 70 other children from across the estate and she throws herself into rehearsals wholeheartedly. After a visit to see a famous choir the children are impressed and with Christmas fast approaching Gareth gets the kids working towards a showcase for family and friends. Will both Gareth’s choirs succeed in proving what South Oxhey is capable of?

Catch up with The Choir Unsung Town tonight on BBC Two at 9pm.
