Former pop star Shirlie Kemp will lead 1,500 women on a 13 mile walk through Watford, to raise money for The Peace Hospice.

Shirlie, who was a backing singer with Wham! and one half of Pepsi & Shirlie in the 1980s, has leant her support to the second annual Starlight Walk, which will take place at midnight on Saturday, June 14.

The inaugural walk last year raised £190,000 last year, when 1,200 women strolled under the stars through Watford town centre and Croxley Green.

Shirlie and her husband Martin, of Spandau Ballet and EastEnders fame, visited the Peace Hospice, in Peace Drive, today (Friday), where they chatted with patients and staff.

Shirlie, 45, said: "It's important to support the Peace Hospice because they need as much funds as they can get and it's such an important place. It looks amazing. I totally support what it does and if I can support it in any way I will do."

Martin, 46, added: "What she's doing for the hospice is fantastic. Places like this need all the help they can get. People have to do all they can to keep these places running. They are so important."
