The deputy speaker of the Ugandan parliament is in Watford General Hospital after suffering a diabetic attack while travelling through Heathrow Airport.
Rebecca Kadaga's condition is said to be "improving" following her collapse and she remains in the hospital, in Vicarage Road.
Ms Kadaga left Uganda on Saturday morning for Heathrow and was set to fly to Germany ahead of a conference of female parliamentarians on Monday.
She was feeling unwell prior to her departure but felt strong enough to travel. However, while waiting for her connecting flight to Berlin, she became very weak and unwell.
Ms Kadaga, who is also an MP for Uganda's Kamuli district, was taken by ambulance to Watford General where she was given emergency treatment following a diabetic attack and "intense malaria", according to the Ugandan Parliament's public relations manager.
