Watford born Chef de Partie Tim Sheed successfully secured his place as one of the three finalists after taking part in a “Master chef” inspired cook off, for the Sussex Young Chef of the Year Award.

Former Watford resident, 23 year old, Tim Sheed was crowned a finalist for the prestigious award, after battling it out in a 90 minute long cook off at the Amex Stadium, yesterday afternoon. The candidates competing had to prepare and present a three-course menu using only locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, and under the added pressure of the budget being only £15!

Tim Sheed, who is currently working at South Lodge Hotel in Lower Beeding, impressed the judges Malcolm Emery and David Mulcahny with his: Mackerel, celery and Watercress starter, venison and Pear main course and figs coated with beer and honey for dessert, guaranteeing him as one of the finalists.

Alongside Tim, other finalists included Dan Cotton and Ryan Tomkinson who also impressed the judges with three outstanding dishes.

The winner and runners up for the Sussex Young Chef of the Year Award will be announced next year on January 29th at the “Sussex foodie event of the year” at the Amex Stadium. We wish our Watford support to the local talent!
