Bedmond Village Primary School to host quiz night for struggling children

A pregnant woman who has worked tirelessly to raise money for poor African children is to continue her good work with a quiz night at Bedmond Village Primary School.

Esther Muoso, of Parsonage Close, set up Kenya Charity five years ago, having seen first-hand the struggle children face for basic provisions such as food and clothes.

Ms Muoso, a full-time working mum, said: “I started collecting school uniform after the loss of our son about six years ago.

“It was a time of desperation when I felt that, I should do something my son, Job Muoso Stephenso, had no chance of doing.

“The aim was just to give a child hope in Africa and to encourage them to go to school.

"I approached Bedmond Village Primary School and the response was fantastic, the pupils in Bedmond baked cakes and sold them with the help of their teachers and parents, managing to raise money to buy food for Kyambai primary school for one term, as well as donating old school uniform.

“The children in Kyamabi primary were so happy and the headmistress has said how performance has improved as she now has more children attending.”

Bedmond Village School has since adopted Kenya Charity as its charity, creating strong links with the African primary school and the Kyambai primary pupils write letters to children at Bedmond explaining more about their culture and country.

Continuing the charitable work, this Saturday Bedmond Village Primary school will host a quiz night at Bedmond Village hall in the hope that they can raise even more money.

Starting at 7pm, a ploughman’s supper will be available to attendees and tickets cost £6.
