Additional volunteers are required if the Rickmansworth and District Residents’ Association is to continue effective campaigning, members were warned last night.
More than 50 residents, taking part in its 79th annual general meeting at Our Lady’s Church, were told more committee members and volunteers were required.
Chairman Peter Crispin, who said the association had helped to win a great victory in its fight against the M25 works depot at junction 17, said he needed two committee members and up to a dozen road representatives – required to deliver news letters and collect subscriptions.
Mr Crispin, who praised the “tremendous efforts” of existing volunteers, paid a warm tribute to retiring committee member Ruth Lake, who stepped down after 22 years’ service.
Mrs Lake said she had enjoyed “every minute of her service” and wished the association every success in the future.
Guests were later addressed by Jan Filochowski, chief executive of the West Herefordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, who gave a presentation detailing its many improvements during his 18 months in charge.
Road representatives are required for Barn Lea, Broughton Way, Chorleywood Road, The Climb, Curtis Close, Coombe Hill Road, Elm Way, The Greenway, High Street, Jordans Road, Lime Tree Walk, Spencer Walk, Swan Close, Talbot Road, Thellusson Way, Thompson Way, Valley Road, The Willows, and Winchfield Way.
