We publish this week one of a series of pen and ink sketches by Mr Alfred Macdonald, a well-known local artist.
These sketches are of old Watford, some of which have already disappeared to make way for modern improvements. Apart from their artistic merit, which is considerable, the drawings are of much interest, both to old and new residents of the town.
[From the Watford Observer of June 11, 1921]
NOSTALGIA NOTE: The series ran for quite some time, but here’s the first drawing, entitled Cottages in Beechen Grove.
ONLINE TOMORROW: Watford's new Town Hall from 1939.
