Following previous correspondence on the topic of the Croxley Green Scout Group, pictured below in 1909, Melanie Winward has revealed that Herbert King, a member in 1929, joined up to serve in World War One and was wounded.
Croxley Green Scout Group.
She adds that Kelly’s Directory lists the name Daniel King, of Lawn Villa, 89 New Road.
The scouts pictured in the photograph are considered to be pioneers of the movement in the village, having started a troop 19 years before the existing Croxley Green Scout Group formed in 1928.
Can any more readers shed light on the history of the Scouts in Croxley Green?
