Cassio Operatic Society is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with a production of The Music Man at Watford Palace Theatre, which will run from Sunday, November 9, to Saturday, November 14.

Nikki Scott said: “The society would like to reunite as many people as possible who have previously been involved with the society as performers or in any other way.

“While the current members would be delighted to see those with previous connections on any night of the week, the focus for the anniversary celebrations is the Friday evening performance of the show on November 13. The society’s president Sidi Scott will be at the theatre along with many old friends from the society’s past.

“The latest production of The Music Man is a very fresh and contemporary slant on a show which has been performed twice before by the society.

“The first time in 1972 was directed by Sidi Scott and included in the cast locals Martyn Knight and Scott St Martyn, both of whom went on to become professional performers doing diverse work in their long careers from TV’s The Good Old Days to La Cage aux Folles.

Several cast members of the society's 1990 production of The Music Man have gone on professional theatre and television success.

“Cassio’s 1990 version of the show included Watford born and bred Jeffrey Nicholson, who is currently starring in Les Miserables in London’s West End; Daisy May Kemp and Will Kemp who have both danced in Matthew Bourne’s Adventure’s in Motion Pictures Swan Lake (with Will also taking film roles including Velkan in Van Helsing); and Ian Parkin, one of the now famous 4 Poofs and a Piano (who appear on BBC One’s 4 Friday Night with Jonathan Ross).
