A photograph of Baileys football team recently published in Nostalgia has prompted memories of the Watford team and nightclub that shared the same name.
Patrick Green emailed these photographs of his band performing inside the nightclub, formerly found in The Parade.
He wrote: “I really enjoy the Nostalgia page in the Watford Observer.
“With regard to the ‘Baileys football team’ who I played against a couple of times, Jimmy Green (no relation) and Dave Haynes are both pictured.
“However, regarding Baileys nightclub, I also remember it when it was called Top Rank before it became Baileys.
“It started off as the Odeon Cinema and then changed to Top Rank nightclub with Caters Supermarket beside it. I attended Top Rank many times and Baileys a few times in my youth.
“In fact, I was a member of a group called The Accent and we performed at the Top Rank in a promotion called The Tea Set, which was run by the Watford Observer back in approximately 1967.
“Just for interest I am attaching copies of a couple of pictures that were actually taken by the Watford Observer during the event and I was wondering if any of your readers recognise themselves in the audience?
“The group consisted of Terry Bowen on drums, Stuart Goult on lead guitar, Dave Bedford on bass guitar and lead vocals and myself, Patrick Green, on rhythm guitar.”
