Who remembers the Watford GPO cricketers?

The pictures above and below were sent in by Julie Addison who explained the players worked for the General Post Office in Watford, with the team made up from workers at the Market
Street Post Office and the sorting office in Clarendon Road.
She emailed: “Here is a photo of the old GPO cricket team [reproduced below] that used to play at Reed School in Watford every Sunday.
“My father played and every Sunday we (my sister and my two brothers) had to go and watch. After the cricket we would go into a hut and have soggy cucumber sandwiches and weak orange juice. We hated it.
“The other photograph is a cricket team outing. I’m not sure where we went but it shows all the families.”
She adds: “This memory is of Garston Brownie Pack back in the late 1950s.
“My aunt ran the pack, and both my sister and I were members as was my cousin. We had many happy times with the Brownies and at 14, I started helping my aunt with the pack and did so until I got married.”
Did any readers recognise themselves in these photographs? What memories or photographs are there of the General Post Office?
