GREAT to see more than 100 people at the Siblets Wood Public Inquiry which started last Tuesday. They were there to show their support for these footpaths which the Secretary of State had directed should be put onto the Definitive Map.

People giving evidence were allowed to do a walk through Siblets Wood last Monday with the footpaths marked out in red paint. They had to keep strictly to the marked paths.

Footpath supporters were saddened by the news that Ann Noble, who had led the campaign for five years, could not attend the first two days of the Inquiry through illness. Her husband was there to provide his support.

The lengthy legal process has been very evident in the Public Inquiry but this has not deterred supporters who have attended resolutely.

Both the Open Spaces Society and the Chiltern Society lent their support for the footpaths and their being included on the Definitive Map.

Again the campaigners are requesting donations to help with the legal costs of this lengthy public inquiry. Send your donations into the parish council who are holding the funds.

DO you enjoy communicating with people? Have you got good local knowledge? Is the thought of creating a publication appealing? If you've answered "yes" to these questions then the Parish Council has a challenge you won't be able to resist.

Following the work that has been done on the Village Appraisal the Parish Council will like to create a Newsletter which would be distributed to all 3000 homes in St Peter. It would contain news about their plans for the future, give details of local personalities, talk about local issues and generally be a means of keeping people informed. The job, should you be interested, would be to put the information together in a form which could then be printed.

"Hopefully there's someone out there who would love to do something like this" said parish clerk Sue Moffat, "and the parish council will provide lots of support". To talk about the proposed newsletter and ask lots of questions please talk to Sue at the parish council offices on 01753 891582. She'll be happy to discuss what they have in mind.

PARISH WEBSITE has lots of information and is providing news across the world. "We were contacted by a school in Bulgaria recently who wanted to find out more about us" parish clerk Sue Moffat explained. She went on to say that the website has details of births, deaths and marriages from church records to help people researching their family tree. To find out what's on the website log onto: www.chalfontstpeter.co.uk FIREWORKS tomorrow at the Scout Headquarters on Gravel Hill have a bar, barbecue and refreshments available from 6pm when the gates open. The bonfire is looking good and there's a prize for the Best Guy so why not raid the jumble bag and create a monster to burn on the bonfire. Tickets are £3.50 for adults and £1.50 children. Please don't take any of your own fireworks along on the night as these events have to be carefully controlled for everyone's safety.

ART enthusiasts will be off to the Community Centre this weekend when Beechwood Artists hold their annual exhibition. Local artists will be showing their work and there will be hand painted craft items as well as greetings cards. Tomorrow the show runs from 10am to 6pm then on Sunday it's from 10am to 5pm. Refreshments will be available while you browse and possibly even meet the artists whose work is the main attraction.
