MAZES are on the mind in a spectacular exhibitions of paintings and real mazes at Hall Place, Bourne Road, Bexley.
On display, in the house's Dashwood gallery, are paintings by West End artist Jane Spencer exploring the mysteries of the single-path maze.
The origins of the maze go back to the Bronze Age and can be found on coins, cave paintings, rock carvings and in structures created from cut turf or stones and made specifically for walking or dancing in.
Outside the gallery, in the grounds of the house, are a simple brick maze in the courtyard and a lawn maze, cut into the grass.
The free exhibition is on until June 25 and the house is open, Monday to Saturday, from 10am until 4.15pm.
