SPOOK hunter George Flatters has found evidence of ghostly goings-on at a mediaeval house after probing the paranormal with laser technology.

The university student from Charlton was drafted in to investigate sightings of the famous young woman in white at Bexley's historic Hall Place.

Mr Flatters, who is studying multimedia at the University of Greenwich, borrowed the specialist equipment which can detect subtle fluctuations in temperature, light and sound. It was loaned by professional holographer Edwina Orr.

The device was set up in a dark, silent basement in the 600-year-old building. Mr Flatters, 23, of Bramshot Avenue, Charlton, said: “We were definitely feeling some very strange things down there. The readings were going all over the place.

“The hairs were standing up on the back of my neck. I am definitely convinced there is something there.”

The laser was positioned with a combination of beam splitters, mirrors and lenses to create a vibration-sensitive projection on the nearest wall.

The more the interference, the more the lasers moved and created bright red shapes.

The results were captured on film and will form part of an exhibition by Hall Place's resident artist, Vanilla Beer.

The video also includes interviews with staff about their own experiences and brushes with paranormal activity in the building. Mr Flatters was invited to collaborate in the project by Mrs Beer, a graduate from the same university.

Mr Flatters said: “It was my first delve into the world of the paranormal, and certainly my first time as a ghost hunter.”
