A PROJECT which provides one-to-one help for vulnerable youngsters, is looking for new volunteers.

The Bexley Moorings Project, based in Bexleyheath, has been running for 20 years, and uses adult volunteers to provide support for people aged eight to 17 with problems.

The volunteers can provide one-to-one contact or help to run the several groups which the Moorings provides.

Youngsters being helped may be experiencing a crisis in their life or have on-going problems such as material or emotional deprivation, a dysfunctional family, be a victim of abuse, social isolation or bereavement.

It has also launched a support project for youngsters who have to care for a family member.

Among the schemes the Moorings is looking for help with, are a Monday Club for youngsters who need to develop their social skills and a support group for young women, together with a programme of short holidays and residential trips.

The project also provides one-to-one befrienders for youngsters who need individual adult support.

The Moorings is looking for volunteers from all kinds of backgrounds who will then be vetted and undergo an eight-week training course.
