A TRUSTED GP has been convicted of rape and sexual assault on virgins he met through the internet.
Depraved Anil Tangotra, 51, of The Drive, Ilford, used Asian dating website Shaadi.com to meet women before luring them into his home where he viciously attacked them.
On April 8, 2006, Tangotra met a 32-year-old student from Tyneside at Kings Cross Station after contacting her under the name Rapid Action'.
He took her on a tour of London before returning to his house under the guise of cooking her dinner. However, once inside, the married father-of-two served her orange juice spiked with alcohol and
brutally raped her.
The traumatised victim reported the matter to police but the subsequent trial could not reach a verdict. While on bail awaiting retrial Tangotra stuck again.
On May 24, 2007, he arranged to meet a 29-year-old teacher at Redbridge Tube Station. Again he lured her back to his house where she drank orange juice laced with the sleeping pill Zolpidem and
was subjected to a terrifying sexual assault.
A jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court took under two hours to convict Tangotra by unanimous decision of rape, attempted rape and four counts of sexual assault. He was remanded in custody for
sentencing on January 18.
