Hilton tight-lipped on job cuts

Bosses at Watford’s Hilton International HQ have remained tight-lipped over rumours of swingeing job cuts.

Parent company Hilton Hotels Corporation Group announced last week a £175million global cost cutting programme and plans to shed more than 1,000 jobs.

Hilton International, which operates all group hotels outside of the US, is one of the town’s largest employers – employing around 500 people at its offices in Maple Court.

The Times quoted sources last week suggesting that up to half of these employees would lose their jobs as the office is scaled down to a European hub.

The Watford Observer asked the company about these figures but received only the following response from a company spokesman: "Hilton Hotels Corporation is undergoing a corporate transformation. Any changes within the organization will be communicated directly to our team members at the appropriate time."
