Former Watford boss Sean Dyche to be named Burnley manager tomorrow

Former Watford boss Sean Dyche should be named the new Burnley manager tomorrow, it has been reported.

The Lancashire Telegraph are reporting that Dyche will be named Burnley boss tomorrow after the former centre half accepted the club's job offer at the weekend.

It claimed three of the Clarets' five board members wanted Dyche although some members were keen on an 11th hour approach for Blackpool's Ian Holloway.

Dyche was at Burnley's 4-0 defeat against Cardiff City at the weekend but it is claimed he was at Turf Moor as a guest of Malky Mackay, who was Dyche's manager at Watford.

Great appointment for Burnley. If we do better than 11th with 64 points this season I will be very surprised.

Hog out

Over achieved last season, lovely bloke, wish him well, perfect for Burnley, he will have them playing with grit and determination, however Watford have moved on as a whole, I wouldnt want him back for footballing reasons, Burnley will stay a mid table championship team for years to come, we are on the other hand on the UP.

Great appointment for Burnley. I was sad when he left as he did a great job in tough circumstances. However, seeing the type of player the Pozzos have brought in I now fully understand why Zola was brought in. We are now watching football being played and we will get better and better as the season goes on. There are plenty of Watford fans happy with mediocre players grinding out the points but I am not and am excited for the future. The likes of Vydra, Abdi, Forestieri, Pudil, Chalobah etc are different class to lat seasons players. COYH

A perfect summary Oliver!!!

I wish Sean well as he did a great job under extremely difficult circumstances, the only victim of the take over as far as I am concerned.

However I am not convinced he would have taken us to the level of playing style that we now have to look forward to, or even commanded the respect of such individual talent that now is the make up of our squad.

I am sure that Sean will want to get some of the players in at Turf Moor that over achieved for him last season. Could work well for us as we are looking for a clear out in January. Big Chris would be an obvious target!

Big Chris and some of the youngsters I imagine, there's a few that deserve the chance. Hopefully Zola still has a spot for Britt Assambalonga though I would not begrudge him the move. He's certainly good enough to play at this level, and possibly beyond.

Hey Dusty, you at the forum Thursday?
If not having a pint in the lion before game Saturday if you can find room after your chip fest!
Good luck to Sean, wouldn't have been the right man for the new project. I think we have him in place in Zola.
I think the WO get a but misty eyed over Dyche!
Come on Bushey Fables hit me with your best shot

Interesting comments. Those in favour of Zola with his imports who seem very classy but do not grind out the results must be concerned. We have issues of fitness and discipline which cost us dear. It is all about points on that GFZ and I agree. Whether he is the man in place we will know by the end of the season, with greater resources and his experience we should finish higher than last year. I hope he does achieve a great finish but I am not without doubts and all the clever opinionated comments of assured success have yet to be proved.

Good luck to Sean Dyche, he did amazingly well to get us to 11th position with the players we had. However I do hope people remember that a fair few of the games we saw (at home) last season were quite difficult to watch at times (long ball tactics, scrappy, players afraid to hold onto the ball, etc), but I guess Dyche was playing to the players strengths (and that's fair enough). One day he may get the chance to show what he can do with better quality players, and if that day comes I think he could go far.

Not quite sure what you mean by grinding out results. The biggest efforts I have seen have come from Vydra, Pudil, Hall and Forresteri.
So if you mean by 10 men defending, lumping it anywhere, you can keep that tripe.
Again I think racial stereotypes are being applied here in that foreign players don't work as hard as the Brits. Utter tosh, but Chris old fella, your top Dog at that
