Watford pair Matej Vydra and Ikechi Anya have been named in the Championship ‘Team of the Week’ for their part in Saturday’s destruction of nine-man Leeds United.

Vydra was instrumental in the Hornets' crushing victory, bagging two goals in the process to take his season’s tally to seven goals from just nine league starts.

Meanwhile, Anya, making just his first Championship start and his first start since the Capital One Cup defeat by Bradford City, played an important part in the result which took Watford to 12th.

Former Hornet Chris Powell saw his Charlton Athletic side lead the way with four players named in the 'Team of the Week' following their victories over Cardiff City and Bristol City in the last seven days.

Full Championship ‘Team of the Week’: Ben Hamer (Charlton Athletic); Jack Hunt (Huddersfield Town), Michael Morrison (Charlton Athletic), Joel Lynch (Huddersfield Town), Paul Dixon (Huddersfield Town); Liam Feeney (Millwall), Kagisho Dikgacoi (Crystal Palace), Johnnie Jackson (Charlton Athletic), Ikechi Anya (Watford); Matej Vydra (Watford), Glenn Murray (Crystal Palace).

I believe Vydra is off on International duty, so he might not be in the team

I was going to make the same point from the opposite direction: just because they're in this week's Team of the Week is no guarantee of a start the following week!

But why isn't there a Premiership/Champion
ship freeze if players are being called up for international duty?

Looking at the Hornets news page, Vydra is in the Czech squad on Wednesday, but I think that he will be available for selection on Saturday if he doesn't come back crocked or worn out.

Pudil not in Czech Squad but he has travelled with his young Son to Czech (went Sunday) so I assume Vydra and Pudil travelled together and will be back Thursday ready to train Friday.

Beleck just tweeted "Ciao Watford"

Sounds like he gone !

Never really saw much of him, what we did see he looked more mobile than Big Chris BUT less ability and not same class as Deeney, Fessi, Geijo or Vydra. Big Chris contract up at end of season so expect him to go in Jan. with Mensah and Britt to come in, plenty of options.

The strange one is Battochio, picked for Italy U20's again for this weeks game, but not given a starting slot yet and a couple of 5 min cameo's, unless he is one for next season. Would like him to start a match before Xmas

Beleck is only 19, probably needs a loan in League 1 equiv to get his career on track

Apparently the 15 year old we signed is called Panos Armenakas, and was scouted by Barcelona a couple of years ago. Deal is all but signed.
