Three Watford players will go head-to-head at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road tonight as England Under-21s take on their Northern Irish counterparts in a friendly.

Midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, on-loan from Chelsea, will come up against defensive duo Lee Hodson and Adam Thompson, both of whom have been called-up by Northern Ireland coach Steve Robinson.

Chalobah, 17, has been promoted to the Under-21 squad for thew first time by Stuart Pearce after featuring at every level for England’s youth sides up to this point.

Pearce is using the game as an opportunity to look at some younger players after his side qualified for next summer’s under-21s European Championships next summer in Israel.

Meanwhile, Czech striker Matej Vydra has been called up by the Czech Republic’s senior side once more and will be hoping to win his fourth full cap for Michal Bilek’s side. The Czech Republic face Slovakia in a friendly on Wednesday.

Watford midfielder Cristian Battocchio is hoping he will also be in international action once more after he was called up by Italy Under-20s for their friendly with Switzerland on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old Udinese loanee has failed to feature for the Hornets since his solitary substitute appearance in the 5-1 defeat at Derby County in September.
