Saracens legend Richard Hill MBE and hooker Jamie George teamed up with the Hitz Programme last week to help children in the most challenging inner-city estates of London.

The pair traded the plush surroundings of Saracens’ Old Albanians training ground for London Fields in Hackney, where they played touch and tag rugby with kids from the area.

Delivered by the Saracens Sport Foundation and Premiership Rugby, Hitz addresses key areas such as sports development, health and wellbeing, education and training and social inclusion as well as utilising the power of positive role models such as Hill and George to instill core values in its participants.

George tweeted prior to the event: “On my way down to another @Hitz_Rugby session at London Fields. Always so much fun and a great cause!”

Saracens Hitz project officer Gareth Hatherley-Hurford said afterwards: “The attendance of Richard and Jamie today only serves to highlight the role such great role models play in the success of the project.

“The children involved get to play a game of rugby on their own doorstep alongside professional athletes who have World Cup silverware to their name – it doesn’t get any more inspiring than that.”
