Notts County loanee Chris Iwelumo says 'there's not much there for me at Watford'

Chris Iwelumo says he expects to leave Vicarage Road for good in January after accepting "there's not much there for me at Watford".
The experienced striker made eight appearances for the Hornets this season before joining Notts County on loan in November.
But Iwelumo is certainly now behind Troy Deeney, Alex Geijo, Matej Vydra and Fernando Forestieri in Gianfranco Zola's pecking order and also faces competition from the likes of Steve Leo Beleck and Britt Assombalonga, who could return to Watford from his loan spell at Southend United in January.
Iwelumo, who is on-loan at Notts County until January, told the Football League Paper: "I think I will probably be moving in January, permanently, so I have got to make sure I keep my head down and do what I can for Notts.
"If I can deliver and something can get done then we will see what happens from there.
"My gut feeling is that there's not much there for me at Watford."
The 34-year-old has made three starts for Keith Curle's side since he joined almost a month ago.

I confess that I haven't been monitoring Big Chris's progress since he went on loan, but does 3 starts in a month suggest he's struggling to get in the Notts County side?

He's been on loan at Notts County for a while and only played three games and hasn't scored!
Be good to get him of the wage bill along with Garner, Dickinson, Forsyth and Jenkins!
A very poor signing at the man who signed him should be sacked!... Oh he was! Lol

I thought big Chris worked his balls of to try and get in the team and if I ever see in Argos I will shake his hand
He's 34 and unlikely to get a run in our 1st team now but he's still a decent player and I hope he does well at his new club when he goes.

His experience helped settle the upheaval down and even now would be useful talking to the front men and giving them the benefit of his experience ( although I agree that he doesn't warrant a place in the team). Probably the best we have played for a full 45 mins this season was against Birmingham , where he led the line. So good luck to him , hope he does well. As for Yeates he has played as well as anyone in the team so far this season. Some players were awful on Saturday , but they don't seem to get slagged off . AS for deadwood ...THAT deadwood team of last year , plus the manager kept us in the division with EFFORT , if not so much technical ability. Some need to respect last seasons team , even if it wasn't pretty...they did a good job. If we had gone down do you think the POZZO's would have been so happy to take over. Prime example is Deeney who is putting the "international" Vydra and other more skilled players to shame with his effort and improvement so far this season.

It amazes me that he did not have a better conversion rate, however don't think that you can really question the guys effort in particular early season.
I am sure it is best all round if he moves on and I wish him well, only because we are in such a wonderful place right now with an influx of talent at a much higher level. We were unfortunately in the midst of very dark days when he joined on a free and he did his best to help pull together a very cheap and young squad.
Will the same be belittling the efforts of Fessi in a couple of years time when we ship him out to make room for Messi?

Plenty of ex players worthy of a few insults and abuse, such as lazy overpaid Ellington, short greedy Connoly, ex scummer Dixon etc, but lets not all just start knocking every player that turns out surplus to requirements such as The Big Man.

As for Big Chris, not our greatest signing, but he was a nuisance and drew defenders around him leaving space for others. It's not always the guy on the ball doing the hard work.

Although he failed to score on most appearances, I felt his sheer workrate, effort and leadership, particularly at the tail end of last season, helped pull the team to their final good finish. Good luck to him for the future.

As for his effort the Burnley boards were full of comments about how we had been sold a pup and our own fanzine had an aerobics article by him.

I saw him play two good away games and one effective home game in his time here. The home game was where a big centre half had been bullying Garner - Chris came on and first cross his elbow was in the defender's midriff and the guy just backed off. Effective but not pretty!
He was slow, poor positionally and did not have the ability to hold the ball up like a Jenkins or Rasiak. He is currently struggling to get into the Notts County team - what a star!

I don't blame his playing abilities, I blame the decision to buy him. We new what we were getting, a player which would play flick the ball on and maybe muscle the ball into the net every now and again. He looked incredibly slow at times, but I believe he tried harder than some other players. He was panic buy...let's move on.
