Watford Sunday League round-up

Holders Oakview's County Cup reign is over after they lost 4-3 at home to Borehamwood 2000.

Adam Lowton, Spencer Bellotti and Karl Bull netted for the hosts but it was not enough to keep alive their side's hopes of successfully defending the trophy.

Goals from Jamie Carter and Daryl Craft also proved insufficient as St Josephs went down 3-2 against Skew Bridge.

Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup Round Four

Andy Lomas scored but fancied Rifle Volunteer are out of this competition following a 2-1 defeat at Doves United.

Premier Division

With Oakview on County Cup duty, Bushey took the opportunity to return to the top of the table following an entertaining 4-3 win at Hammer.

The Browns scored all the goals for the victors, with Jamie and Daryl each scoring twice, while Gary Wicks twice and Nathan Pooley netted for their opponents.

The standings were unaffected by Croxley Green Community Centre's 3-2 victory over Wellington Arms.

Two-goal Robbie Martin led the way for Croxley, with James Evans also scoring, and Mark Hutchinson and Ross Shorto were on taget for Arms.

Gadeside Rangers' run of four straight league wins came to an abrupt end as they lost 1-0 to bottom-of-the-table FC Crescent, who finally registered their first points of the campaign at the ninth attempt.

Rangers had won 2-0 when the sides met seven days previously and after a dull first half largely devoid of chances, they had enough opportunities after the break to secure another victory.

Jay Evans saw a header from a corner cleared off the line, Tom Mitchell lobbed wide after running on to keeper Tom Oliver's big clearance, Joe Pizans and Russ Popplewell also failed to make the most of good openings before Daniel Brooks over-hit a cross when player-manager Adam Hills was screaming for the pass to give him a simple tap in.

Gadeside's profligacy was duly punished ten minutes from time when they were caught sleeping at the back and Liam Hanley ran on to a long clearance and finished clinically.

Rangers threw men forward in the final minutes and it was Hills who had the best chance to level when he got on the end of Brooks’ free-kick but somehow, unchallenged from six yards, managed to head wide when it looked easier to score.

Division One

AFC Spartians remain at the top with four games in hand after defeating fourth-placed Chorleywood Club 4-1.

Regular scorers Tom Horton (2), Darren Lancaster and Mark Sweeney all contributed, with Michael Rockett scoring Chorleywood's consolation.

A Glen O'Malley hat-trick helped fire Mill End Sports, in second, to a 6-1 victory over Green Dragon (Mike Roache).

Two-goal Phil Pemberton and Craig Horwood also scored for the victors.

West Herts, lying in third, thumped Langleybury Cricket Club 5-1.

Roger Lake and Sam Saleh netted a brace apiece, with Vladomir Dragomir scoring the fifth, while Charlie Munro was on target for Bury.

CK Guild needed a late penalty save from keeper Craig Garratt to make sure of a 1-1 draw against Old Garston Juniors.

Mark Brennan had given an early lead but their opponents finally converted one of their chances when Harry Collins fired home off the crossbar.

Division Two

The only game to survive the weather in this division saw leaders Old Fullerians get the better of fourth-placed AFC Bushey by the odd goal in seven.

Ben Williams scored twice, with Tom Kinsey and James Sandford also on target for Fullers, against goals from Ian Parrish, Ryan Turnbull and Sam Parker.

Division Three

Evergreen maintained their top position with a crashing 8-1 victory at AFC Oddfellows.

Jamie Harper hit four goals, Andy Murphy also netted a hat-trick and there was a single strike for Max Moore. Gary Lynch scored for the outplayed AFC.

Third-placed Railway Arms continued their pursuit of the top two with a 7-0 thumping of Oxhey Estates Reserves.

Sledge Mubama and Duncan Sands shared four goals, with the others from Chris Phillips, Wayne Barber plus an own goal.

Division Four

The top three in the division were all in action and all won away.

Leaders Oxhey Lions had few problems in beating bottom club AFC Bushey Reserves 5-0 through a Mark Graham treble and other goals from Ollie Brinton and Billie Groves.

A Dean McKane brace and a Martin Regan effort sent second-placed Racing Santandome to a 3-1 win at Carpenders Park Rangers, while Rickmansworth Rovers, in third, thumped Gadeside Rangers Reserves 8-0.

Adam Seabrook and James Budden both netted trebles, with Harry Wallace and Tom Gibson scoring one apiece.
