Matty Whichelow returns to Watford after Accrington Stanley loan ends

Watford midfielder Matty Whichelow has returned to Vicarage Road following the end of his loan spell with Accrington Stanley.

Whichelow joined Stanley in September and made two League Two starts, along with two further substitute appearances but did not feature after October's 3-2 home defeat to Rochdale.

"Matty is a great lad," said Reds boss Leam Richardson on his club's official website. "We'd like to wish him well for the future and thank him for the last few months.

"I'd also like to thank Watford for letting us have him and for their co-operation throughout the loan spell."

Whichelow's Hornets team-mate Piero Mingoia remains with Accrington and featured as a second-half substitute in their FA Cup second-round replay defeat at Oxford on Tuesday night.

You would like to think that some of these guys who were fringe players last season really should be an ever present if dropping down a few divisions. Maybe they have reached their level just like the second Ross Jenkins.

Hope Dyche takes one of the loanees to Burnely as I assume he must rate at least one. Burnely is only a fun run away from Accrington so he will know what is going on.

Remember his breakthrough season, 3 goals & looked fantastic. Something has clearly happened for such a steep drop in form!

Disappointing

Really thought he was going to make it here .....but now he looks unlikely to make it ANYWHERE.....sorry just but have to end this post with ..."its up to you, New York New York...."

Pay up his contract and get him out of the door. A lower Conference club might give him a chance as he hasn't shown anything at Wycombe, Exeter or Accrington

Shame all around, I thought he looked promising, but believe it or not there is life after Watford, Theo Robinson being a case in point. COYH

I think he needs to make a brand new start of it.

Scenario: If you was Matty and your last chance in football come up and L*t*n wanted to sign you, would you sign or stack shelves at Asda?
Bit like being up to your neck in the brown stuff and someone throws a brick at you!

Could be worse - the rumble in your tummy is a bad dose of the squits.
