Behaviour of Watford players Troy Deeney and Fernando Forestieri criticised for tweeting pictures of motorist's damaged car

A motorist has criticised the behaviour of two Watford players for tweeting pictures of her damaged car after it was involved in a collision with the Hornets’ team coach on Boxing Day.

Majella Tarmey’s Ford Fiesta Zetec was parked outside Ashton Gate when the collision occured as the club vehicle made its way into the ground ahead of the postponed game against Bristol City.

A picture of her car was posted on Troy Deeney’s twitter site, accompanied by the comment: “[Our] coach driver just finished somebody’s Xmas lol.”

Fernando Forestieri did likewise, with the comment: “Merry chistmas Bristol hahahah.”

Majella contacted the Watford Observer and said: “The damage that has been caused has been a massive inconvenience and I’m sure you can imagine my irritation when I read such comments from individuals who are representing such a high-profile business as Watford FC.”

The Bristol resident indicated she would be “contacting the club regarding the conduct of said players, as I feel it is unnacceptable for such public figures, in whatever capacity, to behave in this manner. It may be hilarious for these highly paid individuals, but for me it is at great cost”.

The Watford Observer understands the club will be dealing with the matter internally.

Omg what a plum. learn to park it properly next time! Pathetic to decide to follow it up like that. if it was not her fault then with the insurance money the club probably done her a favour(fiesta)....if it was her fault then har de har!

Sorry, but I don't agree. Every player is a role model for the club, and publicly revelling in someone else's misfortune is not the image that the club should wish to convey.

Have to agree with WessexLad . It's immature at best, something I might expect from Forestieri given his childish behaviour on the field, but thought Troy would know better, especially after the year he's had "off the field".

Not the best from Troy and Fernando, easily resolved though..

An unfortunate accident and yes I think famous people need to be careful what they write on Twitter but they are not being rude or offensive..

Just messing around and being childish like most young footballers are..

Its not like they caused the accident themselves and well it seems strange this lady would go onto twitter looking for their quotes.

TD comment not rude or offensive just an accurate comment - and gives the owner of the vehicle proof of the collision if needed. FF comment not in the best of taste and he should apologise as it is not HaHaHa.

But also the woman should maybe apologise for illegally parking if that is the case - for finishing the coach driver's Xmas lol and delaying the team's already wasted journey further.

it doesn't put any different view on it. It doesn't matter if the WFC wasn't even involved. Our players, TD esp-fukcing-especial

The story should have airtime....apart from anything else it shows how "dangerous" twitter can be when got into the hands of "children" . It gives the club a bad name. Whilst no one was injured , I certainly would be upset , firstly if my car got pranged ( as it has) and secondly if the employees of the owner involved tweeted to the world that it was funny.Yes , the car may be repaired , it may be a write-off who knows ,in which case it won't really be sorted .... but banter on the coach is one thing ..to make it public is stupid. I hope the manager has a word with both players. PS thought Forresteri couldn't speak English ????

Majella Tarmey, if your car was hit by a bin wagon would you be trawling twitter for council workers reaction? would you bother moaning about the inconvenience of it all knowing they would just refer you to their insurers? would you contact the media?

If the answer is no to any of the above I can only suggest you are an immoral gold-digger. It was a minor accident that endangered no one so why treat it as anything else? ... No matter how you paint it, two phone calls trying to sell life insurance that day was not a prophecy and for inconvenience try driving 120 miles to a rained off game and back like many Watford fans did.

HaHa deffo cant be a fight club as they never turn up haha!

and agree! neuton's natural role is a left wing back. maybe play him against buckley... he played that role against arsenal in a champions league game a few years ago and was man of the match... switch Pudil to RWB....

Or play Pudil at LWB and Mujangi Bia at RWB, a position he has played in the friendlies recently. more pace, power and tricks than Buckley will ever have.... if Buckley spends the game trackin him back he cant cause us a problem...

If i was Zola i would play Mujangi Bia at RWB and Neuton at LWB. Neuton is asily good enough to mark Buckey out of the game. Plus Dan Pudil has played nigh on every game, jus need someone more defensive to go against Buckley and Neuton offers that..

Must admit Neuton never occurred to me to use him to nullify WB. Brighton for me are a bunch of wind up drama queens and I think we'll do well to finish with eleven especially if the crowd get onto the ref. Stop Buckley and avoid early bookings and I think we'll be ok.

I do hope so. I know Poyet and Zola are mates but I don't love Brighton.

Is Doyley fit yet? He could contain Buckley. But we don't need to worry we have plenty of options. Would be nice to put a few past Kuzcak.

Yes obviously we've all been waiting for you. Happy Christmas.

Anyway we've got a decent tally here. Nearly made the 75. That's with a severe points deduction, losing many of handsomebottom's rants.

My next prediction is a 3-2 win at Brighton.

I note the intelligence level here of footballers and those who follow the game hasn't improved much since I last visited. It's difficult to decide, for those of us who don't possess the intellect of a dyslexic budgerigar or Monty Python's dead parrot, which are the thicker and more cretinous and illiterate - footballers or the fans!

Deeney may be one of the best hoofers of a ball round a muddy field that Watford has had since John Barnes but he's hardly a Brain of Britain is he? Barnes is an educated and very literate man, while Deeney must surely possess one of the lowest IQs ever to infest Vicarage Road. How ignorant and thick can he be when, having been jailed for violence, then fined for motoring offences, he publicly sneers at a woman whose car has been damaged by the team coach, whoever's fault it was? Is there no-one at Watford FC with the maturity and authority to take this brainless yob to one side and explain to him that he is becoming an embarrassment to the club, however many goals he scores, or is football so arrogant and immature that it does not consider it has any obligations to society and civilised people?

I'm just grateful that we have good citizens like you. I also feel honoured that you grace us with your words of sagacity and counsel - something us yobby fans need. Please, I know you don't like football, but please please please keep dropping in on us here and peppering us with insight. It can only make us helpless wretches better. Actually, I do quite like football. It's the cretins who run it, own clubs, manage clubs, play it and the low-IQ morons who seem to follow it that I don't much care for!

Football needs to clean up its act and stop treating players who are clearly thugs and over-paid cheats as heroes. Football used to be a great game, full of sportsmanship and good humour. It has been ruined by money, greed and neanderthal fans who could teach the warring tribes of Somalia a thing or two when it comes to tribalism.

We now have two cycling knights, Sir Chris and Sir Bradley, and a cycling Dame Sarah, thanks to our brilliant Olympians. Can anyone remember the last footballer to be knighted? I think it was Trevor Brooking. Can anyone seriously begin to compare the great footballing knights of the past like Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Tom Finney, Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Geoff Hurst - gentlemen, all - with some of the gutter scum who infest football pitches today? Yet they probably earned less in a month than Troy Deeney spent on his iPad!

Nice reply Chris. But seriously this Stockdill geezer is a bored former gutter press journo who has a chip on his shoulder. He's not clever, staggeringly condescending, and has nothing new to say. He just gets a hard on at the thought of Bradley Wiggins in lycra. Not worth bothering with.

>Why are you on here, numpty?<

Let's just call it an attempt to raise the intellectual standard of debate among football fans - clearly an uphill struggle! It's also a concept called freedom of speech, which is probably too difficult for you to grasp. I have as much right to my views as anyone else. Because I don't follow or support any particular team does not debar me from expressing an opinion.

I am always happy to discuss football, and other sports, with those who are bright enough to indulge in a serious exchange if views. Sadly, though, so many fans are incapable of doing anything other than hurling illiterate insults at those who don't offer blind and bigoted support to their team.

Being a neutral and supporting no particular team, I enjoy watching a decent game between two good teams. What I cannot understand is the blind and illogical obsessiveness of the average fan who seems incapable of understanding that there is much that is wrong within the game - corrupt club owners, bent managers, avaricious agents, managers who bully referees and officials (step forward, Sir Alex) and grossly overpaid, under-performing players who duck and dive and cheat and who are unfit to lace the boots of some of the great players of the past.

Does that answer your question?

I await an answer to this question; I was hoping someone might have a suggestion or two as to whose ancestry and family tree I might research. So far I've only done a couple of sports personalities, Sebastian Coe and Victoria Pendleton - well, three if you count Gabby Logan whose father is, of course a famous ex-footballer.

The only proviso is that they must be household names (which rules out anyone playing for Watford!). The obvious two are Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard but the problem there is that both,I believe, have Irish ancestry (like half the population of Liverpool) and family research in Ireland can be difficult because a vast number of records were lost in a major fire at the Public Record Office in Dublin in 1922. Having said that, my most recent blog is on Tess Daly, who has an Irish background, so it's not impossible.
