• Watford were beaten 4-3 to suffer just their second defeat in 12 league outings.
• Daniel Pudil gave Watford the lead with his first goal for the club, but Charlton led 2-1 at the interval through a Tommie Hoban own goal and Yann Kermorgant's header. Almen Abdi's penalty and an Alex Geijo strike put the hosts back in front midway through the second half, only for Kermorgant to equalise within a minute before Johnnie Jackson headed in what turned out to be the winner.
• Watford started the day sixth in the table following their 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, while Charlton are 18th in the table on the back of a 1-1 draw with Derby.
• Gianfranco Zola made five changes for the game, with Neuton replacing injured Fitz Hall and Marco Cassetti, who was back after suspension, returning for Ikechi Anya. Sean Murray started his first match since September in place of Jonathan Hogg, while the Hornets had a new front line in Alex Geijo and Fernando Forestieri, as Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra dropped to the bench.
