Watford Ladies extended their unbeaten run to 12 games after recording a comprehensive 6-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers Ladies in a friendly match.

Manager John Salomon took a squad of 17 players to the match in order to maximise everyone’s playing time and the Hornets began the contest brightly and went ahead early into the game.

After Jo Wilson was brought down in the penalty area, Sarah Wiltshire stepped up and coolly converted from 12 yards.

The Hoops defence restricted Watford for the majority of the opening period but they did double their lead before the break as Josie Green deftly chipped the goalkeeper to double the Hornets advantage.

Salomon’s side continued to attack in the second period and they scored their third through Wilson before Zoe Teasdale marked her return from injury by scoring the fourth goal of the game.

In the final five minutes the Hornets rounded off the scoring as Wiltshire completed her hat-trick with two composed finishes.

Salomon said after the game: “This game was a really important exercise for us to keep our fitness levels up during the Christmas break and maintain our momentum.

“The conditions made it extremely challenging, but it was a good test for the players and I’m pleased with the way they adapted.

“Overall I’m happy with the performance and the result, which was key to continuing our momentum as we prepare for our game against Coventry on Sunday.”
