Saracens and England second row Mouritz Botha visited Enfield Ignatians to take part in a training session before passing on information as to how the London Two North East side can improve their game.

The training session was designed to sharpen Ignatians’ performance in a number of areas and the international had a captive and willing audience.

Botha said: “Working with Saracens’ partner clubs is an important part of maintaining a strong relationship with our community. I can only hope that some of my advice and guidance has helped the players at Enfield.”

Ignatians’ coach Emile Hertz believed the England international’s visit was worthwhile for his side.

He added: “We had talked to Mouritz beforehand on what we wanted to do, and he was certainly very helpful. We pre-planned the session, and also talked to him before the training, as to what areas we needed to concentrate on and improve.

“For example, there were a couple of set plays we have been working on, and I feel that the players now have a better grasp and understanding of certain concepts.

"For example, he was able to show us a number of different variations in some key areas, and that can only be positive.

“Mouritz also took time after the training session to socialise with us, and a number of our players took the time to chat with him and ask him questions.

"There was a real buzz about the club and I would like to thank Saracens for their help in organising the visit.”
