Watford-born Harry Crawford scored his first goal for Barnet last night but it wasn't enough as the Bees were beaten 2-1 at Bristol Rovers.

The former Parmiter's School pupil started the game on the bench but was introduced as a 32nd minute substitute in place of the injured Ricky Holmes.

Crawford was the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation for the Bees and found it difficult to impose himself of the home side's defence.

Rovers went ahead in the 77th minute through Fabian Broghammer and Barnet pushed centre-back Andy Iro up front to accompany Crawford.

It proved an effective switch and the former Southend United striker missed a glorious chance to level as the ball dropped to him six-yards out but he volleyed over.

However, he redeemed himself and in the 89th minute Crawford coolly converted his first goal for Barnet to level the score.

However, Edgar Davids’ side couldn’t hold on and two minutes into injury time Ryan Brunt finished well from a tight angle to leave the Bees beaten and dejected.

When asked about Crawford's performance, Bees head coach Davids said: "“He scored a good goal and also had another chance to score but it is always good for strikers when they are hitting the net.”
