Nathaniel Chalobah has won the England Men’s Youth Player of the Year at the inaugural FA England Awards this evening.

The on-loan Watford youngster was voted for by Club England coaches for his performances for the national Under-19 and Under-21 sides last year, finishing ahead of Derby County’s Will Hughes and Everton’s John Lundstram, who came third.

The Chelsea youngster has won more than 50 caps at various England age group levels since making his debut for the Under-16 side in 2008.

Chalobah helped the Under-19s reach the semi-finals of the European Championships in Estonia last year before making his debut for Stuart Pearce’s Under-21s against Northern Ireland in November.

Meanwhile, former Hornets youngster Kieron Forbes, who is now playing for Forest Green Rovers, came third in the voting for the England C Team Player of the Year.

Eleven awards are being handed out at tonight’s event at St George’s Park, which is one on the highlight’s of the FA’s 150th anniversary year.
