Watford striker Matej Vydra comes third in 'Czech Talent of the Year' award 2012

Watford striker Matej Vydra has come third in the Czech Republic Football Association’s ‘Czech Talent of the Year’ award 2012.

The 20 year-old striker, on-loan from Udinese, finished behind Chelsea’s young defender Tomas Kalas – currently on-loan at Vitesse, and runner-up Martin Pospisil.

Vydra has enjoyed something of a breakthrough in 2012, excelling on-loan at Vicarage Road with 19 goals from 17 league starts for the Hornets and also making his full debut for the senior Czech Republic side against Denmark in August.

The Chotebor-born forward had previously endured a tough start to 2012 as injury whilst on-loan at Belgian club FC Brugge had ruined his time with the club.

Previous winners of the award include Petr Cech, Milan Baros and Tomas Rosicky.

I think he would come top of the Watford Talent of the Year Poll!!!

I hope that he is able to play on Friday night, the biggest 6 pointer of the season so far.

Don't beleive it, he's rubbish. As slow as a cart horse and couldn't hit a barn door from ten paces. Honestly, don't bother bidding for him in the Summer.

agreed. Premiership clubs are better off looking at up and coming talents like the young lad Kevin Phillips on loan at Crystal Palace

Wouldn't surprise me if he was on the bench on Friday. Greatest talent since Blisset/Barnes

I think they really need to look at the talented Colin Simpson before they look at this Vydra chappy.

Spot on JonBoy. He and Deeney are the "Dynamic Duo" and I hope to see them in a Watford jersey for many years to come.

Zola should look at getting Kalas in for us next season, either on a perm or loan deal. Surely he still has connections at Chelsea?

Interesting choice. For all Vydra's goals and ability, my choice would be Abdi for his all-round ability, touch, composure, passes and also fair share of goals.

I am sure we will find out in a few months time who is player of the season.

Seriously I think player of the season will be very interesting this season and could probably go to 6 or 7 candidates.

I am sure the Pozzo's know exactly what they're doing when it comes to all the loan players. At present they are all probably on reasonable wages as they were only second string players in Italy. As soon as they sign for Watford the player's agents will naturally want to get more money for their player, so whilst the pozzo's call the shots as to which team they play for there is no commercial sense in changing things, although it would shut up Steve Claridge !!

Its not so bad as thats just added another couple of million to his net worth should we not acheive promotion this season. Just trying to work out how much this team is worth if all players were sold its got to be 25 million + How lucky we are TU Pozzo's

He and Abdi will both be gone in the summer if we don't go up......so no silly team selections on friday, GZ !!

Probably as good a reason for the players not being signed permanently (yet) as any.

no commercial sense if the contract length stayed the same and pay increased, but lots of commercial sense if the contract length was extended !
