Watford striker Matej Vydra is nominated for the Championship's Player of the Month award for January.

The talented 20-year-old scored six goals last month with three consecutive doubles coming in Watford victories against Middlesborough, Huddersfield and Nottingham Forest.

The Czech striker scored in every league game he started and Gianfranco Zola’s men lost the other two matches in which he was a substitute, against Charlton Athletic and Bristol City.

Burnley defender Jason Shackell and Leicester City striker Chris Wood are the other nominees for the award which recognises the standout performer in the Championship every month.

The Player of the Month panel is comprised of npower Partnerships and Sponsorships Manager Katy Thomas, former Wolves striker and current Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit and the Football League’s head of communications John Nagle.

The winner of the award will be announced at around 9am on Sky Sports tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Meanwhile former Watford boss Sean Dyche is up for January's Manager of the Month award in the Championship for steering Burnley to three league wins from four.

Dyche faces competition from Leicester City’s manager Nigel Pearson and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Gus Poyet for the accolade.
