Watford's Easter Monday trip to Hull City rescheduled
12:36pm Monday 18th February 2013 in Sport
Picture: Action Images
Watford's trip to Hull City, which was scheduled for Easter Monday, has been moved back a day due to the Tigers' previous match being re-arranged for TV.
The Hornets will now face Steve Bruce's Hull on Tuesday, April 2, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
The move comes after the Tigers' trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, March 30 was pushed back to a 5.20pm kick-off as it will be shown on Sky Sports.

On a Bank Holiday Monday, that would definitely be doable. With University/Work/Coll
ege/School there's minimal chance.
It's going to be such a massive game and now our away following is going to be down to three digits.
Surely Hull v Watford is significantly more important than Wednesday v Hull?!
Livid. Cheers Sky. Once again messing Watford up.
What happened with our game being moved to Friday despite =the international breaks finishing the day before?!

1. Why would Huddersfield Town v Hull City be chosen ahead of Hull City v Watford?
2. Who at sky made this decision and does he have any connections with Hull City?
3. Are Watford going to offer free coach travel to entice fans to travel on a work night on which they will get back around 2am in the morning?
4. Isnt it about time clubs had more input as to this kind of issue.Common sense says our game is vital to both sides and the date should have been allowed to stand.
I'm so angry!!!

So why not push our match back 2 hours and twenty minutes to 5:20 on Easter Monday instead of 28:45 later, so now it's on the Tuesday our fans now can't travel and make a day out of Easter Monday, but have to either lose 2 days work or not go, smacks of Hull win / win situation. Sky TV really know how to show total contempt for WFC and it's fans, no thought whatsoever, ignorant moronic setup.

and gives Hull a massive advantage as so many of us fans will struggle to get there on a work day when planned this one well in advance for a bank holiday.
Statement from our board would be welcome as i personally am also very very annoyed at this change but first looking at our board for their comments before blaming the league !!!

Is this some kind of cruel April Fool? Because no footballing authorities, or indeed away team in Watford FC's position, should ever agree to this change for such a ludicrously pathetic excuse.
What next? Steve Bruce doesn't want to miss Eastenders, so the kick-off is put back to 8pm?!

Saying advantage hull is a little out. Yes our fans do make an impact at away games, but the ones that do make the impact are always there week in week out. 500 fans or 2500 fans we will make the same noise away from home. Our players will be even more rested than theirs and will want to pay back the fans that do travel. No need to start pointing the blame at football league or the board. This is football and we have to just deal with it. Let's get up there and cheer them on and just take it on the chin the next day at work when we are tired the adrenaline of a watford win will get us through. COYH

I'd dispute that as Ginafranco would be the first to tell you what a difference the crowd makes. You also say dont blame the football league or the board. Its precisely teh Football Leagues reluctance to take the tv scheduling people on that causes these issue.Yes money as well.

Having a much larger away following added to only a 2 day gap between matches for Hull would have tipped the odds and if Watford agreed with this it's disappointing. Feel sorry for those who have already booked transport. Poor.

South west corner is jointly owned i understand, so an agreement between WFC and NHS trust needed to commence.Watford cannot make dates without agreement.
The FL enquiry? How can the club be responsible for timescale on verdict of a case against them? I'm say pure they'd like to know.
Pozzo statement? I'm sending you lots of great players to push for premiership football, my son is moving to the area to confirm our commitment. I'll give you GFZ and sexy football.
And as for Hull, FL made decision today and it was put out today.

So No BLAME on Watford
So rather than waste negative energy on blaming the club lets look to make best of a situation outside Watfords control !!!
I have asked VERY NICELY if Watford would consider giving free coach travel , they are under NO obligation to do so, HOWEVER this idea is being given SERIOUS CONSIDERATION
so all CALM DOWN, stop attacking the club or certain individuals, give them breathing space (this was thrust on them today), and I am hopeful of a good outcome !!!!!

I would expect the club in the near future to make a statement regarding the reasons ...and did we protest etc and that they have also tried to negotiate a ticket price reduction. Also give us a contact withing the FL so we can ALL complain . This is not any old weekend ..it is easter and some people would have made plans , and already paid out money so that they could see the game on Monday.

so all CALM DOWN, stop attacking the club or certain individuals, give them breathing space (this was thrust on them today), and I am hopeful of a good outcome !!!!!
We are all on same side .....
There are good ways to get a good outcome
COYH
I would expect the club in the near future to make a statement regarding the reasons ...and did we protest etc and that they have also tried to negotiate a ticket price reduction. Also give us a contact withing the FL so we can ALL complain . This is not any old weekend ..it is easter and some people would have made plans , and already paid out money so that they could see the game on Monday.

They have NO SAY in the date change, so what more would you want them to consider other than free travel (which has not been agreed, it's just a request at the moment which is being considered) ?
Sensible ideas very welcome !

Holly any chance you could send a request for the pozzos private jet? We could go to work and the game :) I know, not a sensible suggestion.... But worth a try right?
I'm sure we'd take 12,000 if we all got a free ride in the Pozzo Jet

Translated message from the Pozzo's: The sooner we are in the Premier League the better, get away from the tin pot Football League for good!!!
As we can see above the Hull fans aren't happy about their game v Huddersfield.,.....a
nd as far as I can see Hull haven't announced the ko change in our game yet on their website!!! I suspect some of their fans will be unhappy too.Be interesting to see the ticket prices for the Hull clash. Our club have made a short statement on the change , and to be honest its not good enough. That, and other things that GuyBov has ,mentioned about , plus the lack of signings in Jan ( and the reason why they weren't ....etc) is making me wonder what's going on in the PR dept. Looking forward to going to the AYP next week , where hopefully these questions will be answered . It's a shame because on the field its all good.
dont invite me to any party you might be having soon , I prefer to stay at home and eat my own teeth . ( miserable Git )

Looks like my first miss of the season for what will likely to be our most important game. GREAT!!!!! Still as long as Hull and the FL are happy who cares about the real fans. See you all at Ipswich!!!

Hull fans have got the right hump now as west yorkshire police have stipulated that they are only allowed 1,500 tickets for huudersfield and you have to travel on official club coaches so it is not just us who are upset this has messed up a lot peoples plans.

The FL do not want WFC to get promoted ubder any circumstances and this Hull situation is just another chapter of the victimisation.
I fully expect a points deduction for the Bassini situation even though previous (and worse) cases got off with a fine, which if forthcoming will merely prove my suspicions than the FL have well and truly got it in for us.

John,
Thank you for your email, your comments have been noted.
With reference to the Hull City v Watford fixture change, this was authorised by The League to ensure that both clubs have equal and adequate recovery time between games. As you are no doubt aware, Watford are playing on Good Friday at 3pm.
Whilst we understand your frustrations, all Football League fixtures are subject to change, and along with TV scheduling, games can be moved at any time due to a whole variety reasons. In this case the movement of the Huddersfield Town v Hull City fixture for live television impacted on the recovery times which lead to our decision to agree to Hull City’s request to defer the fixture with Watford by 24 hours.
It is of course regrettable that any fans may encounter difficulty with travel bookings in relation to this fixture change and we do attempt to keep changes to a minimum throughout a season.
Thank you for contacting The League.
Regards,
Amanda

I'm afraid I'm becoming paranoid and a conspiracy theorist when it comes to my beloved club and the football league. As detailed in the Daily Mail today, we have seriously pi55ed off the FL with our loan policy (even though it is within the rules) and I note now they are not only going to change the loan terms but also permanent transfers to stop clubs like ours getting players for nothing with high value sell on clauses.

The FL affirmed Hulls request,of which under their guidelines were obliged to do. It Hull City's FCs doing and has nothing to do with our hearing.
