Watford Under-18s salvaged a late 1-1 draw away to Dagenham and Redbridge in the Youth Alliance South East Division.
George Byers scored late on to earn the young Hornets a point against one of their rivals at the top of the table.
Coach Dave Hughes told the club website: "The lads were full of effort, but maybe lacked the real threat to capitalise on chances.
"We passed it well at times in the opposition half but I think the draw is the fair result if I’m honest.
“It was a good draw against a side challenging to win the league. We got our rewards for our application and work ethic with the equaliser late-on.”
Elsewhere Hughes' side have been drawn against Northampton Town in the semi-final of the Youth Alliance Cup.
The tie will take place next Tuesday at London Colney. Kick off will be 1pm.
