Watford defender Neuton is set to miss the majority of this season's promotion run-in after the Brazilian dislocated his shoulder in training this week.

The 22-year-old had previously been sidelined with a toe problem and has only made seven starts this season for the Hornets.

"We think he has a dislocated shoulder," Watford head coach Gianfranco Zola said.

"He was back in training and he had a problem there so unfortunately it’s another injury for him, he’s a very unlucky boy.

"We don’t know if he'll be out for the season yet - he has to keep it in a bandage for a week to keep it still and locked.

"I think in a week or so he’ll have another scan and see a specialist."

Shame - but he was the weakest of the new defensive recruits. Happy with 3 from Doyley;Nosworthy;Hal
l; Ekstrand

Never really worked out for Olivia

Hope he recovers well

Doubt we'll see him in a Watford shirt again

he is very highly rated in his home country and i think we have not seen the best of him, Man U wanted him for about 6 mill when he was 19 for a replacement for evra. I think we should stick with him

I'm not sure the centre of defence is is his best position. He does bring the ball out of defence very well but does give it away too often. When Hogg does a poor pass we still have the back line to cover but when Newton looses it we only have the keeper.

If we have to have any of our players out injured Neuton would be my choice!!! What is wrong, again, with Fitz Hall? He seems to be injured all the time. Sicknote must be his middle name!

Think he would be more suited to playing in the Premiership, so worth keeping for next season.

I can see Watford signing him up on a 5 year deal, see what happens, looks very good just needs to get used to the English game

Agreed, it takes time to get used to playing in this division, it took Cassetti a while. "Never worked out for him"? Give him more time, he will be a class player.

Quality footballer, much more suited to wing back.... think he has a future with us when his injuries have cleared up

Hall's crocked. That leaves 3 from 3. Not happy!

Shame, he looks classy on the ball - sweeper perhaps? But I would see him as a Cassetti replacement

.....except he's left footed and Cassetti plays on the right !

I think he'd be good sitting in front of the back 4 or 5. He's just not at his best marking a CF when crosses are coming into the box.

Bad luck for the player, he is obviously a good player but not our best defender as yet, I hope he does well for us in the future.

Seems a typical Brazilian defender- good forward play but can't defend well
