Oxhey Jets exited the Spartan South Midlands Challenge Trophy

Oxhey Jets' run in the Spartan South Midlands Challenge Trophy ended at the quarter final stage after suffering a 4-1 defeat at home to Dunstable Town on Tuesday.

Jets made several changes to their side and they fell behind in the 24th minute when good build-up play in midfield allowed Tony Burnett time to fire in the opener.

Oxhey had contained Dunstable, who are top of the Premier Division, for long periods of the half but five minutes before the interval they added a second when Eoin Casey volleyed in.

The second period was tight but Dunstable still had the better of the chances. Town brought on their leading scorer Lee Roache and he struck twice in the final 15 minutes to round off their win.

Jets’ Premier Division match against Biggleswade United on Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It was the same fate for Kings Langley’s Division One match at Buckingham Athletic but they were in action on Tuesday night and suffered a 2-1 defeat against Kentish Town.

Kings went ahead in the tenth minute as a swift attack led to Adam Hallissey converting a cross.

However, Town then equalised through a Glen Garner free-kick and then ten minutes after the restart they went ahead when Ant Ladyman’s poor clearance dropped to Lee Scott and he finished well to seal a surprise win for the hosts.

Elsewhere in Division One, Sun Postal Sports were held to a 1-1 draw in their match away at Amersham Town on Saturday.
