Watford boss Gianfranco Zola reacts to Football Discplinary Commission outcome

Gianfranco Zola admits he is “relieved” Watford will not be deducted points after a discplinary commission came to what he described as the “correct decision” following the club's and former owner Laurence Bassini's Football League hearing.

Bassini and the Hornets were charged following alleged breaches of the Football League’s regulations and the club’s former owner has subsequently been banned from any participation in football for three years.

Other possible penalties, including a fine or a points deduction, were not imposed however and Zola believes the right outcome in that regard has been reached.

“I am relieved about the decision,” the Hornets head coach said.

“I think it is the correct decision too because this group hasn’t got anything to do with the past.

“I don’t think the issue has affected the players at all.”

Blimey - headline news, GZ is glad we didn't get any points deducted. Well there's a surprise !!

How about an article on our injured players, esp Abdi - will he be fit for next week's game ? Is NC expected to be fully recovered ? Is Manuel expected to be fit ?

When will Buaben start a game?

Now all the hardwork has been done behind the scenes the time has come for Zola to get the team fully fit and energised for the final run in.

Try the official site for news, that is what it is there for,and if that don't work then call 118.

While one part of me thinks we got a right touch, another part of me thinks it would've been incredibly harsh to dock us points when the instigator (Bassini) is long gone. I'm just hopeful this good news will filter down to the players and give us that extra push we need to claim automatic promotion.

With the next game 9 days away it isn't really worthwhile news- any number of injuries could be picked up/ cleared by then so it is clearly best to wait until mid next week when the full picture is known

Perfectly happy old chap - just not sure what anyone learns from this article. I'm very happy to be positive about articles which deserve it as I was with the Bassini summary yesterday.

What we want to know is whether our key players are going to be fit for the run in - why not ask GZ that instead of telling us that he's pleased we've not been docked any points !!

I would prefer to wait 6 or 7 days until there is likely to be news rather than speculation. Literally no point in saying where is he right now, what's important is where he is this time next week.

The thing is they expect people to be fit and then a day before the game they change it to its taking longer than expected which puts a bit of a dampener on things so I'm happy to sit tight until the game. That way there's less dissapointment. At the same time I'm happy to watch us play no matter the team so its not super important. Plus Zola is the boss...he will pick the team with whom he sees fit to play....not who we all think should play.

No they don't. Simple as. You have to watch recovery and this is too soon. Patience. It really doesn't matter if he is fit this week and you cannot say whether someone coming back from injury will be ready in 9 days time

wrong! You can say you think he will be, think he wont be, or its in the balance. To follow your logic they'd better not say anything at all every week until they announce the team before kick off !!

Because if Zola doesn't rate him he needs to get him out on loan before the window closes.
So why should we start him when we have better players? Sell him or loan him? I agree
i think he couls do a job in this team. was an important player ar towards the end of last season. He is far more talented than yeates and if chabz or abdi are out he would be the best option since hogg has gone off the boil off recent.

Different team to last year. But to be fair, he's not played so harsh of me to rule him out.
I just think come next year regardless of divisional status, we will see a very different squad, with some of the old guard cut loose.
Cue the Dychists and their histrionics....

Totally agree a few decent players will be cut lose not of their own fault but wouldnt rule buaben or majangi bia out as it was only recently battochio was able to secure a place in the team and zola isnt scared of rotation...as we found out the hard way.
