Little Hay captains’ drive hit by weather

The four new captains at Little Hay Golf Club took part in the traditional ‘drive in ceremony’ at the weekend despite the wet and windy weather.

Their combined driving distance of 730 yards was an improvement on recent years but the planned competition was cancelled due to the rain.

The club’s ladies section competed in the Ovaltine Cup and Caroline Banks took victory in the competition.

She finished on 37 which was one ahead of Carol Kent. Chris Marsden rounded off the top three with 35 points.

The ladies were also in action in the March Medal. Marsden this time came out on top with 71 while Clare Stammeijer was second. Chris Woodcock clinched third spot.

The senior men played a pairs competition and Tony Hodson and Jim Littlechild were the victors with 51 points.

Phil Joslin and Ron Goodfellow were second with 48 while Mick Milne and Terry Keeling were third with 46.
