Watford Sunday League round-up

Premier Division

Only one game was played in the division as the disappointing weather significantly affected the fixture list but it was an entertaining contest which saw eight goals equally shared between Gadeside Rangers and Wellington Arms.

Adam Hills found the back of the net twice for Gadeside, who also had Ross Popplewell and Tommy Mitchell on target to help secure the 4-4 draw.

Wellington’s goals were scored by Simeon Armstrong (three) and Ross Shorto.

Division One

There was a win apiece for Met Police (Bushey) and Green Dragon in their double header.

Police completed a 3-2 victory in the first game, while Dragon avenged that defeat by winning 3-1 in the next match.

Hassan Zelzale, Joe Shanahan, Marvin Simpson and Ashley Shanahan were on target for Police over the two games, while Mike Roach scored three for Dragon with Taylor Burgen and Adam Nassur also netting.

West Herts remain top of the table despite being held to a 3-3 draw against Old Garston Juniors.

Sam Saleh, Lawrence Olorinfemi and Sabou Conteh struck the goals for Stags.

Division Two

Only one game was played in this division and it was a comfortable one for Hammer Reserves, who defeated Wellington Arms Reserves 4-1 thanks to a Chris Blunden hat-trick and one from Sam Budgen.

Division Three

There was a surprise defeat for table-toppers AFC Oddfellows as they suffered a 3-2 home defeat against Woodlands United.

James Kinsella, Darren Boyce and Steve Cook scored for Woodside, while goals from Connor Flanagan and Ben Sandling were not enough for the league leaders.

After a difficult run of cup games, Evergreen returned to league action and duly threw their hat in the title mix with a convincing 6-0 win over Pavillion.

Jamie Harper scored a hat-trick and Callum Rimmer, Jack Smith and Joe Kelly also struck to complete the rout.

Division Four

Strugglers AFC Bushey Reserves defied their league position to beat third-placed Rickmansworth Athletic 4-1.

Scott Mitchell, Chris Ladmore, George Ray and James Jeffery scored for Bushey, while a strike from Shane Kitts was nothing more than a consolation for their opponents.

Athletic’s defeat has allowed Rickmansworth Rovers to close the gap between them in the table after they defeated West Watford 6-2.

A fine team effort was rewarded with a brace from James Budden and further goals from Sean Cabey, Harry Wallace and Adam Seabrook.

It was a disappointing morning’s work for West Watford but Ajmal Ahmed did notch twice for the beaten side.
