A team of former Watford players will take on their Reading counterparts on Sunday in a memorial match for former Hornet Dave Bewley, who died at the age of 92 in March.
Bewley moved to Vicarage Road in 1953 from Fulham and was the Hornets’ oldest known player prior to his passing.
During his career Bewley also played for Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic (now AFC Bournemouth), Gravesend, and Sunday’s opponents Reading.
The ex-Hornets who will be taking to the pitch are Luther Blissett, Tommy Mooney, Gavin Mahon, Allan Smart, Paolo Vernazza, Kevin Miller, Derek Payne, Dave Johnson, Alan Paris, David Byrne and Neil Price.
The match kicks-off at 1pm at Northwood FC. Entry costs £3 for adults and is free for Under-16s. The money raised will be donated to Alzheimers Research UK.
