Watford boss Gianfranco Zola wants the Vicarage Road faithful to create an “electrifying atmosphere” tomorrow and believes the situation is “ideal” for his players to claim victory.

The crucial match at home to Leeds United is sold out and with an automatic promotion place up for grabs, Zola insists the Watford supporters have a vital part to play.

“They have to be very noisy – I want to see an electrifying atmosphere,” Zola said.

“I know we have to play well for them to be noisy as well but they have a big part to play because at any moment in the game they will be important for the players.

“We are at the end of the season and the strength of the players is not the same – they are not the same physically as they were and the support of the fans will give them the extra energy they need to finish on a high.”

With Watford needing to better Hull City’s result against Cardiff City, supporters will have an anxious afternoon of checking phones, listening to radios and ringing friends close to results elsewhere.

But Zola insists he has no preconceived plans to react to Hull’s match and that he will be focusing solely on his own players.

"I can draw ten different scenarios for the game on Saturday but it depends how it is going on the pitch," he said.

"There are so many factors to consider and I cannot say now what I am going to be doing because if I get drawn by too many scenarios I will lose sense of what is actually going on.

"I will lead the game normally and I will try to see what’s going on and I’ll try to handle the situation in the best way I can."

Zola added: “We have to realise we need to win our game first which is not going to be easy because Leeds will not give anything away and so we need to make sure we do the business.

"They are a dangerous team, they have got good players.

"I know they’re not playing for anything but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s an advantage because they are going to have the freedom to play their own game."
